Abstract
Lymphangioma is usually diagnosed during childhood. In our patient, it was diagnosed after childbirth and was successfully treated laparoscopically.
A 37-year-old woman noticed abdominal fullness, 1 month after her first child was born via a Caesarean section. Her obstetrician noted a cystic lesion in the abdominal cavity. A cystic lymphangioma was suspected based on abdominal CT, ultrasonography, and PET/CT findings. To rule out a malignant tumor, a laparoscopic extirpation was done.
The tumor was not very invasive and did not have many adhesions ; therefore, it could be removed by drawing it out through the 12-mm port-site. The tumor contained milky fluid that had a high triglyceride concentration. Lymphangioma was confirmed on pathology.
Laparoscopic extirpation is useful and should be the first choice of treatment due to its low invasiveness and good cosmetic result.
