Abstract
A 19-year-old female was admitted to our hospital because of right abdominal pain. An abdominal CT scan revealed the multiple concentric ring sign in the ascending colon and the lead point of intussusception existed in the proximal transverse colon associated with numerous gas in the wall. We performed operation with adiagnosis of intussusception. There was an intussusception in the ileum which was encountered in the ascending colon. After the intussusception was reduced, many soft tumors were palpable on the ascending colon. Intraoperative colonoscopy showed numerous submucosal protrusions in the ascending colon. Right hemicolectomy was performed. The histological findings of the resected specimen showed gas-filled cysts of varying sizes in the submucosal layer of the colon. Pneumatosis cystoides intestinalis presented with intussusception was thus diagnosed.
