Abstract
Patient 1, an 81-year-old man, was seen at the hospital because of right inguinal swelling. CT scan showed an inguinal hernia, that contained bowel series of the cecum. An emergency operation was performed with a diagnosis of right incarcerated inguinal hernia. The inflamed appendix was seen in the hernia sac. A hernia reduction, appendicectomy, and mesh repair was performed. Patient 2, a 49-year-old man, experienced right inguinal swelling for 10 years, and visited the hospital complaining of inguinal pain. CT scan showed an inguinal hernia contained bowel and did not show an ileus sign. An emergency operation was performed, and the content was the appendix. A hernia reduction, appendicectomy, and primary repair was performed. The two cases were discharged without complication. In incarcerated inguinal hernia repair, it is important to consider an Amyand's hernia in the differential diagnosis.
