Abstract
A 40-year-old woman was admitted due to abdominal distension and pain. A diagnosis of ileus due to ileocecal obstruction was suspected on abdominal computed tomography. After decompression of the intestine with a long intestinal tube, enterography showed a mass located from the end of the small intestine to the cecum. Laparoscopic ileocecal resection with lymph node dissection was performed. Intraoperative findings included a tumor located in the ileocecum. The postoperative course was uneventful. On pathology, a diagnosis of ileocecal endometriosis was made. In addition, endometrial tissue was involved in a metastatic paracolic lymph node (#201). We report a patient with ileus caused by ileocecal endometriosis with paracolic lymph node metastatic involvement, treated successfully by laparoscopic ileocecal resection ; a literature review is presented.
