Abstract
A 56-year-old woman visited our hospital because of abdominal pain. The patient had spontaneous pain in the lower abdomen with peritonitis, and the white blood cell count and C-reactive protein level were elevated to 9,700/μL and 20.2 mg/dL, respectively. The patient was admitted to our hospital. CT revealed a fibrous target structure and fibrous and fatty folds converging radially toward a high-density area connecting to the left inguinal hernia. Emergency operation was performed based on the diagnosis of omental torsion caused by inguinal hernia. The laparoscopic findings revealed twice omental torsion with 2 clockwise turns with necrosis, which had been caused by the inguinal hernia. Laparoscopic-assisted resection of the omentum and repair of the left inguinal hernia by the mesh-plug procedure were performed. The postoperative course was uneventful and the patient was discharged on postoperative day 8.
