Abstract
A 39-year-old man was admitted to our hospital because of pain in the upper left quadrant of the abdomen, with muscle guarding. He had no history of trauma or infection. Abdominal ultrasonography and computed tomography showed an isodense mass (diameter, 4cm) in the spleen and fluid collection around the spleen. The patient's blood pressure decreased with decrease in his hemoglobin level. Therefore, an emergency splenectomy was performed. Histopathological examination did not reveal any pathological findings such as neoplastic tumor, aneurysm, or infection. Laboratory results showed no evidence of viral infection. Here, we report a rare case of spontaneous rupture in a normal spleen.
