Abstract
The patient was a 64-year-old woman who underwent breast-conserving surgery for left breast cancer (invasive lobular carcinoma and scirrhous carcinoma, T2N1M0, Stage IIB) in September 2008. She was admitted to our hospital in January 2010 because of abdominal pain and vomiting. Intestinal obstruction was diagnosed with abdominal enhanced computed tomography, and laparoscopic partial resection of the small intestine was performed. There was stenosis in the ileum entirely encircling the lumen. The pathological diagnosis was small bowel metastasis of the breast cancer (invasive lobular carcinoma) . The postoperative course was uneventful. She was admitted to our hospital in August 2011 because of abdominal pain, and with a diagnosis of ileus due to small bowel metastasis of the breast cancer, laparoscopic partial resection of the small intestine was performed again. There were multiple stenoses in the small intestine. The postoperative course was uneventful. The pathological diagnosis was also small bowel metastasis of the breast cancer. Operated cases of small bowel metastasis of breast cancer are rare. We present this case together with some bibliographic comments.
