Abstract
A 19-year-old man complaining of right hypochondralgia was admitted to our hospital because abdominal CT scan detected a huge hepatic tumor. Laboratory findings showed tumor markers to be within normal limits. Abdominal contrast-enhanced CT scan showed a hypervascular mass about 15cm in diameter in the right lobe of the liver. The tumor was depicted as a huge well-demarcated tumor with low attenuation areas in the center. EOB-MRI showed a high density mass in the hepatobilliary phase. Because the patient was young, the tumor was huge and the symptoms were recognized, right hepatic lobectomy was performed. The resected tumor was pathologically diagnosed as focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH). The resected tumor was light brown in color and had radial cicatrization in its center. Histologically it was composed of the same liver cells as the background liver ; many abnormal blood vessels were seen and bile ductules had proliferated surrounding the nodular lesion. Accordingly FNH was diagnosed.
We present a resected case of huge FNH presented with right hypochondralgia.
