Abstract
A 45-year-old woman admitted to our hospital because of an abdominal mass and abdominal pain. She had underwent total hysterectomy for a uterus myoma in April 2014. At that time abdominal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) disclosed two cysts, 5 and 11 cm in diameter, in the vicinity of the left ovary and in the left retroperitoneum, respectively. The cyst in the vicinity of the left ovary was removed together with the myoma. Histopathological examination showed that the cyst consisted of cells like uterine tube, and the cysts were diagnosed as retroperitoneal Müllerian cyst. She noticed a mass in the left abdomen in October and was seen at our hospital because the mass became larger with pain. A 25 × 20 cm ill-movable mass was palpated in the left loin. Abdominal contrast enhanced computed tomography (CT) and MRI showed an about 20-cm multilocular mass at the left retroperitoneum. A rapidly grown retroperitoneal cyst was diagnosed and the patient underwent surgery in April 2015. We removed cysts about 20 cm and 10 cm in diameter. The contents of the cysts were clear liquid. Histopathological examination showed the same findings as the previous. We report a rare case of retroperitoneal Müllerian cyst of which course could be followed, with a review of literature.
