Abstract
Herein, we report the case of a 71-year-old woman with a retroperitoneal schwannoma arising from the right adrenal area. The patient was admitted to our hospital for further examination of the right adrenal gland tumor that had been found incidentally. Endocrinological tests showed slightly elevated serum noradrenaline levels (0.68ng/ml). CT and MRI showed a tumor measuring 9.5cm in its longest diameter in the region of the right adrenal gland. Based on the finding, we diagnosed the tumor as a right adrenal cancer and performed tumor resection. Histopathological examination of the resected specimen revealed the diagnosis of retroperitoneal benign schwannoma. To date, six months after the surgery, the patient remains free of recurrence.
