Abstract
Breast metastases from cancers arising in other organs are rare. A 51-year-old woman with a history of rectal cancer, which was staged T4bN1M1, developed a left breast tumor. The 3 cm tumor was palpable. The tumor was diagnosed as a metastasis from rectal cancer by mammotome biopsy. Fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography showed FDG accumulation in the left breast tumor and the left obturator node. Therefore, she was treated with a systemic therapy. Although the tumor reduced in size, it grew again. A partial breast resection was performed for local control 4 months after diagnosis of breast metastasis.
