Abstract
A 49-year-old man complaining of a sense of fullness in the abdomen was pointed out mesenteric and presacral tumors by abdominal computed tomography at a neighboring hospital. There were previous histories of undergoing left radical nephrectomy for renal cell carcinoma, left infraclavicular, mediastinal and retroperitoneal lymph node dissection, and thymectomy for extragonadal germ cell tumor at the age of 31. Recurrence of extragonadal germ cell tumor or left renal cell carcinoma was suspected and he was referred to our hospital. Since a diagnostic biopsy was difficult due to its anatomical location, we resected them surgically for diagnosis and treatment. Pathological diagnoses of the tumors were recurrent germ cell tumors. The patient has been free from signs of recurrence, as of 9 months after the resection of the recurrent rumors. It is rare for germ cell tumor to recur 17 years after the resection.
