Abstract
Ilioenteric fistula (IEF) is very rare and shows a significant association with high morbidity and mortality rates. We report two patients presenting with an IEF who were successfully treated using endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) and an abdominal operation.
Case 1 : An 81-year-old man with history of graft replacement surgery for treatment of an abdominal aortic aneurysm 5 years prior to presentation, was admitted to our hospital with melena and shock. He was diagnosed as having a left internal iliac artery-sigmoid colon fistula and underwent an EVAR involving a left leg graft to the left external iliac artery, followed by a left hemicolectomy and construction of a stoma.
Case 2 : A 90-year-old man was admitted to our hospital with melena. He was diagnosed as having a left internal iliac artery-sigmoid colon fistula and underwent an EVAR to exclude left internal iliac artery and suturing of a sigmoid colon perforation. Both patients were discharged from the hospital without complications.
