Retroperitoneal tumors (RPTs) are rare tumors that develop in soft tissues found in the retroperitoneal space. RPTs are treated in various departments such as gastroenterological surgery, urology, orthopedics, and obstetrics and gynecology. Compiling evidence for RPTs is not easy because this disease is not common and the clinical manifestation of RPTs is extremely complex and diverse. It is important, however, to collect and analyze the clinical data of RPTs using the national clinical database, to plan clinical trials for the treatment of RPTs, and to produce evidence for RPTs. It is also urgently necessary to establish a clinical guideline for RPTs. These efforts may finally systematize the treatment strategy for RPTs and may improve the overall prognosis of this rare disease.
