Abstract

Many surgical techniques for parastomal hernia have been reported, but none is considered standard. The recurrence rate is lower with mesh than without, and the use of mesh is recommended, but there are many types of mesh. In our department, the laparoscopic Sugarbaker technique has been the first choice, and the Parietex Composite Parastomal Mesh (center band type) has been used for parastomal hernia, but it is currently not available due to a voluntary recall by the manufacturer. In this report, a case of laparoscopic Sugarbaker technique with a device that folded the mesh is presented along with a discussion of the technique and mesh based on the literature.
