A 45-year-old man was presented to the previous hospital with left inguinal discomfort. He was diagnosed as inguinal bacterial lymphadenitis and received oral antibiotics. As the symptom did not improve, he was reffered to our hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Under the suspicious diagnosis of toxoplasmosis, another regimen of antibiotics was used ; however, his symptom continued. Thus, he was referred to our department for inguinal lymph node biopsy for differential diagnosis of malignant lymphoma, among other conditions.
Magnetic resonance imaging suggested that the inguinal mass might have originated from spermatic cord. Therefore, complete left orchidectomy with wide excision and high ligation of the spermatic cord was performed. Histological examination confirmed the diagnosis of undifferentiated liposarcoma.
Spermatic liposarcoma is a rare disease and often mistaken for common diseases such as inguinal hernias or bacterial lymphadenitis. Herein, we report a rare case of spermatic liposarcoma, with a literature review.
