Abstract

A 52-year-old woman was admitted with hematochezia and anemia. Her hemoglobin (Hb) was 6.6 g/dl, and her serum iron was 15 μg/dl, indicating severe anemia and iron deficiency, but no abnormal findings were found in other biochemical data and tumor markers. Abdominal computed tomography (CT) showed a 35-mm, cystic lesion in the jejunum slightly anal to the ligament of Treitz, and fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) /CT showed FDG accumulation in the same lesion with a maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) of 3.24. Laparoscopic surgery was performed for diagnosis and treatment of a submucosal tumor. Surgical findings showed a multilocular cystic tumor in the jejunum near the ligament of Treitz, and the tumor was removed by partial jejunal resection. Histopathological examination showed a mucinous cystadenoma with ovarian-like stroma in an ectopic pancreas corresponding to Heinlich type II under the jejunal mucosa.
