Abstract
A questionnaire survey concerning pediatric anesthesia for 125 accredited institutions of pediatric surgery in Japan was carried out, and the pediatric surgeons made the following suggestions :
1. Pediatric anesthesia should be managed by experienced anesthesiologists who can discern a visceral prematurity or a specific physiology state in infants.
2. Paying attention to “Preventing trauma in children by anesthesia and surgery” , “Entering the operating room not scary” , and “No pain after the surgery” .
3. Clear communication between anesthesiologists and pediatric surgeons in the peri-surgical care period.
It is expected that the cooperative relationship between the pediatric surgeon and the anesthesiologist will be improved further by these proposals.
