Abstract
We introduce how we successfully increased the efficiency of surgical procedures by taking the opportunity of the renewal of Tokai University School of Medicine Hospital.
(1)Increase in the number of O.R.s (to 21) and operating tables (to 24 ; 18 operating rooms with 1 table each, and 3 rooms with 2 tables each) .
(2)Building operation rooms represented by Convertible O.R. which enable us to perform surgeries consecutively.
(3)Ideas including One-footwear System and Surgery Progress Management System to make the admission/discharge of patients smoother.
(4)Care for inpatients on an outpatient basis and effective use of anesthesiologists.
(5)Promotion of one-day surgery making use of the Short Stay Surgery Center (SSSC) and shortening the length of hospitalization required for surgery.
This new system has been running with both a high level of efficiency and favorable results.
