Laryngeal mask is an alternative for airway management during cardiopulmonary resuscitation. We compared the utility of laryngeal mask Supreme® (SUPREME) with Softseal® (SOFTSEAL) and Bag-mask on manikin in 21 trainee doctors. Success rate with the first trial was 90.5% for the SUPREME and Bag-mask, and 66.7% for SOFTSEAL. Time to perform effective ventilation was significantly longer with SOFTSEAL than with the Bag-mask or SUPREME. Maximum ventilation pressure was significantly higher in SUPREME than SOFTSEAL. In contrast, the frequency of gastric inflation was significantly lower in SUPREME than in SOFTSEAL. Our results suggest that SUPREME may be useful for emergent ventilation.
