The American Society of Anesthesiologists released practice guidelines for management of the difficult airway in February 2013. Members of the Japanese Association for Medical Simulation have translated this guideline into Japanese, and the guideline is presented in this issue. The differences between this guideline and the previous guideline and the underlying evidence that influenced the revision are discussed in this review.
