Education on Safe Intra-hospital Transport to Improve Patient Safety

Abstract

Despite the high incidence of adverse events during intra-hospital transport, few concerns about this have been raised in Japan. We have developed and validated an educational program to promote safe intra-hospital transport. The results demonstrate that simulation practice utilizing a checklist deepened the knowledge of participants. After implementation of the educational program, the mean number of correct answers significantly increased compared to before implementation, suggesting its effectiveness. Appropriate education is needed for healthcare professionals involved in intra-hospital transport.
