EBM, or evidence-based medicine, is now a core part of our clinical practice. Recently, however, too much importance has been placed on the results of RCT(randomized controlled trials)in the EBM world. EBM should consist of a balanced combination of data evidence, physicians’ discernment, and patients’ characteristics. I would like to discuss the strengths and limitations of RCT, with examples of published studies, to contribute to a better understanding of EBM.
