Abstract

Cardiac output monitoring is currently used in perioperative management to select appropriate fluids and drugs based on absolute values and relative changes in cardiac output.

Arterial waveform analysis, which is a method for measuring cardiac output, originally required the acquisition of arterial waveforms through an invasive arterial line. The ClearSight system is a non-invasive arterial waveform analysis system that applies a cardiac output monitoring algorithm to the arterial pressure waveform obtained by the volume clamp method. It has become popular due to its ease of use and lack of risk of arterial puncture complications. We introduce recent reports on the ClearSight system and how we use at our facility.
