Abstract

We have developed a computerized anesthesia monitoring system and an anesth-esiologist's backup system by the use of a high performance engineering work station, Apollo Domain System. The Domain is superior in the points of network function, multi-task and multi-user function to conventional computers. As a computerized anesthesia monitoring system, we have made the following system; 1) automated records for various patient's data, 2) real time supervision over anesthetized patients in other rooms, 3) data links with other computer systems such as the hospital's main computer and the laboratory instruments, 4) digital data recorder function and 5) searching for a given point of sampling data. This system is useful to store and integrate various data in anesthetic practice. This also provides us an aid to ensure the great safety of patients not only in anesthesia but also in critical care and intensive care.
