Abstract
Massive bronchial bleeding is the most hazardous complication in bronchof iberscopic removal of a long-term bronchial foreign body. Perioperative management was conducted for the removal of a left bronchial foreign body that had been in a 80-year-old male patient for seven weeks. We performed bronchoarteriography preoperatively to investigate a neogenesis of the large arteries around the foreign body. Although neogenetic large arteries were not detected, we conducted the removal of the foreign body using a catheter in the bronchial artery for emergency embolization. Minor bleeding from the bronchus continued following the removal of the foreign body, but it was easily controrlled by bronchial artery embolization. The postoperative course was uneventful.
