Abstract
A case of intravascular large B-cell lymphoma, a rare variant of malignant lymphoma, of the uterus is reported. A 70-year-old woman presenting with fever, edema of the lower legs and genital bleeding was found to have abnormal endometrial cytology, large atypical cells with coarse chromatin and conspicuous nucleoli were intermingled with endometrial epithelial cells. In the resected uterus, large atypical lymphocytes proliferating in small blood vessels of the uterine wall and a large endometrial polyp were noted. Immnohistochemical staining revealed that the atypical lymphocytes were positive for CD20. Careful cytological examination seemed to play an important role in the diagnosis and appropriate treatment of this case.
