Abstract
We report a case of micropapillary urothelial urinary bladder carcinoma and its cytological and histological findings. Numerous mucin strings appeared in voided urine in cytology.
Histologically, the tumor was micropapillary in structure, consisting of large atypical cells with eosinophilic cytoplasm and large nuclei with prominent nucleoli. Numerous intracytoplasmic lumina appeared in neoplastic cells-findings consistent with the numerous mucin strings in urine. The tumor’s cytological and histological features are typical, but the cytological finding of numerous mucin strings in the background in voided urine is highly unusual.
