Abstract
Background : The cytomorphologic features of mammary angiosarcoma are reported.
Case : A 70-year-old woman visited our hospital for further examination of small masses in the right and left breasts detected during a mass survey for breast cancers. Fine needle aspiration biopsy of the right mammary mass was performed. A small amount of material was obtained and cytological examination revealed single atypical cells, paired cells and vasoformative vacuoles with endothelial-like cells. Core needle biopsy of the right mammary mass showed numerous vascular channels lined by atypical endothelial cells projecting into cysts and forming papillary lesions.
Conclusion : Careful screening is important for the diagnosis of mammary angiosarcoma by fine needle aspiration biopsy.
