Objective : The xeroderma pigmentosum group A protein (XPA) protein, which is a nucleotide excision repair protein, has not been adequately examined to date.
Study Design : We investigated the expression of the XPA protein and excision repair cross- complementation group 1 protein (ERCC1) for 30 cases of lung adenocarcinoma imprint smears.
Resnlts : Our results indicated that the XPA protein overexpression was significantly correlated with the degree of differentiation, the T-factor, the greatest dimension and the Ki-67 positive rate. A trend towards coexpression of the XPA protein and the ERCC1 protein was noted.
Conclusion : Our data suggested that the XPA protein overexpression was associated with high tumor proliferation activity.
