Abstract
The cytological features in a 60 year-old female with adenoid cystic carcinoma of the breast was reported. In aspiration smear from the mass of the left breast, there were clusters of small round cells with moderate atypia and several mucous globules in the field of red blood cells.
There were no variations in their shape and size, with moderately hyperchromatic nuclei and fine, evenly distributed chromatin particles.
Their cytoplasm were scarcely seen, and stained faintly light green by Papanicolou's stain.
Tumor cells tended to encircle the mucous globules, showing a tubular arrangement in part.
