Background: We report a case of rare Paraganglioma of the bladder.
Case: A 39-year-old man admitted for a feeling of residual urine was found in computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging to have a tumor lesion in the posterior left ureteral orifice of the bladder. Surgery was done under a clinical diagnosis of retroperitoneal tumor. Imprint cytology of the tumor showed sheet-like isolated and loosely attached cells. Tumor cells had abundant cytoplasm and round to oval nuclei. Histologically, the tumor consisted of round and polygonal cells arranged in small packets separated by vascular fibrous septa. Immunohistochemically, tumor cells were positive for NSE, S-100 protein, chromogranin A, and synaptophysin.
Conclusion: We report the cytologic features of rare paraganglioma of the bladder.
