Abstract

The courses of treatment are difficult in many aspiration pneumonia cases. We conducted research into more appropriate treatment approaches for aspiration pneumonia.

1,143 aspiration pneumonia hospitalization cases were obtained from the DPC style 1 data (January 2011 – March 2012) of 14 IMS hospital group institutions. A data table was created for the analysis, and the illness severity indices were calculated using an A-DROP system for patient attributes and comorbidities at the time of hospitalization. Subsequently, multivariate and decision tree analyses were used to assess the factors and degree of association relevant to aspiration pneumonia patients’ hospital discharge outcomes. These results establish a fixed relationship between the illness severity index at the time of hospitalization and the hospital discharge outcome.
