A Method for Making Cross-sections of Fragile Materials from Fracture Zone and Weathering Zones by Using Epoxy Resin and Paraffin

Abstract

 We developed a method to make a smooth cross-section of fragile materials, such as fracture zones and weathered rocks. This method is a combination of epoxy resin coating and paraffin impregnation, and is very simple and promising to make a cross section that is as large as several ten cm² and can be used to observe detailed structures smaller than a millimeter in scale.
