Abstract
There are some tunnels which have been deformed by frost heaving of rock behind the lining. We already reported about the common features in mode and progress of their deformations. This paper describes the geological conditions of frost heaving rocks which were detected in freezing test of rocks. For unconsolidated earth the past results of studies about frost heaving of soil generally apply, and concerning consolidated earth their strength and grain size distribution of rock are found the most effective indexes for judgment of frost heaving.
