Abstract
Kawamata. Dam is a very slender type arch dam 120m high. The left bank of this dam have many problems for the supporting foundation of arch dam They are poor topography and grography and groups of fault or seam.
Transmitting wall of arch thrust and rock pre-stressing system are wost important treatments of this bank. This paper reports on the process of these foundation treatments from the most primitive idea to the latest design.
All geological data which is gained through the investigations and model tests are translated to mechanical data and they introduced us to the above plan.
