The next Course of study published in 2016, and after the transition period from fiscal 2017, it will be carried out in grade progress in 2022. In preparation for the implementation of education based on the next Course of study, we conducted a survey among principals of commercial high schools to examine issues pertaining to the ability of teachers of specialized commercial subjects to provide proper course guidance. Many of the principals were of the opinion that the following issues need to be addressed: (1) lack of training opportunities, (2) hectic schedules of teachers that prevent them from attending trainings, and (3) lack of teachers in the fields of tourism, economics, and other commercial subjects affected by globalization that require revision and improvement.
