Abstract
As a fundamental study of continuous desulfurization process, water model experiments were carried out to understand the terminal velocity of refining agents descending in an inclined pipe. The inclination angles measured from the horizontal plane were Φpi =30°, 45°, 60° and 90°. An effect of the wettability of the agents on the terminal velocity was also investigated. The wettability was evaluated in terms of the contact angle,Φ. Experiments were performed forΦ =71° (wetted) and 143° (poorly wetted).
