This report describes progress in the use of OASIS® extracellular matrix for chromic refractory leg ulcers. The subjects were four patients visiting our outpatient lower limb wound care clinic, who had intractable leg ulcers with different causes. The results showed good progress in two cases, but no improvement in the other two. In the autologous cases, the selection of appropriate secondary dressings and their appropriate replacement and debridement were important to ensure the effectiveness of OASIS®. In addition, the control of exudate and infection influenced wound healing. The synergistic effects of OASIS® and compression therapy promoted wound healing.
