Abstract

Our dialysis clinic provides foot care during treatment; however, monthly foot problems have been linked to the limited frequency of annual examinations and insufficient staff knowledge. Furthermore, elderly dialysis patients experienced difficulties performing self-care activities. We introduced a foot assessment sheet for condition tracking and information sharing, added regular ABI/SPP exams every six months, provided monthly foot care as needed, and offered patient education through a self-care pamphlet. Comparison of 2022 and 2024 data revealed that rates of calluses and dryness decreased, whereas moisturizing care increased. Patient feedback was positive and our findings suggest an improvement in QOL. Moreover, an improvement in staff skills was observed. This initiative reaffirmed the importance of active foot care for preventing complications.
