Abstract
Several types of minimally invasive transoral approaches have been reported for resection of oropharyngeal cancer. Anterior wall cancer is a difficult subsite to resect by transoral surgery. Recently, we introduced transoral videolaryngoscopic surgery (TOVS) and used it for anterior wall cancer resection. A 69-year-old man with a history of esophageal and hypopharyngeal cancer was diagnosed with anterior wall oropharyngeal cancer. Biopsy revealed squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue base, T1N0M0, which was resected under TOVS. A pharyngeal exposure FK-WO retractor and monitoring with a deflectable-tip ENDOEYE enabled safe and precise en bloc resection.
