Abstract
Buccal fat pad flap is fat that exists surrounded by the maxillary process, mandible bone and zygomatic bone. It acts as a buffer between masticatory muscle and bone. It is substantially constant regardless of the weight and nutritional status of each patient, and can be used for the reconstruction of defects after oral tumor resection. Reconstruction by buccal fat pad flap is simple and minimally invasive compared to free tissue transplantation, and is a very useful transplant flap for cases with a small range of loss in the oral cavity because circulation is also stable. We experienced two cases of oral cancer that underwent reconstruction using buccal fat pad flap for the defect after oral carcinoma resection. Buccal fat pad flap is a simple and minimally invasive way of treating the deficit after a relatively small resection, for cases that cannot undergo a prolonged surgery due to complications and people of advanced age.
