Abstract
Schwannoma is not uncommon elsewhere in the body, but it is rare in the oral cavity. We report a case of schwannoma that occurred in the buccal submucosa. The patient was a 47-year-old Japanese man complaining of a painless lump in the right buccal region. The clinical diagnosis was a benign tumor of the salivary gland. Histopathological examination revealed schwannoma. Six cases of schwannoma in the buccal submucosa have been reported in Japanese literature. These cases as well as the present case are reviewed.
