Abstract
A survey was conducted with working nurses on their interest in being admitted to graduate schools. Out of 2,232 nurses surveyed, 15.0% or 330 nurses responded that they had intention of joining graduate school some time during their career, while 3.3% or 73 nurses said they wanted to be admitted immediately if possible. 44.2% wished to study cancer nursing and an overwhelming 89.1% of them cited CNS course. 78.8% said they wanted to continue to work while they study. 92.4% of them, however, expressed various concerns; 56.7% over economic burden; 49.4% over their work/study balance; 45.5% over their academic ability; 44.2% over admission examination. 26.6% of nurses faced issues at workplace, which they wished to solve by studying at graduate schools. Factors making them want to join graduate schools were: 1-issues at workplace which they hoped to solve, 2-want to study CNS, 3-recognize the importance of graduate school and 4-do not wish to specialize in maternal nursing. It has become apparent that education system needs to be built with due consideration to such background.
