Abstract
We report multidisciplinary treatment of a patient who complained of anesthesia from the lower part of the knee to the instep and allodynia on the soles of both feet. The patient, a 14-year-old girl, was unable to walk because she complained of pinprick pain in the bilateral plantar. Her symptoms had features of complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) in children, but did not satisfy all diagnostic criteria. We built trust with the patient and her family, using iontophoresis of 8 % lidocaine to relieve the plantar pain. We consulted with a pediatric psychiatrist about her unexplained pain. The patient was diagnosed with somatoform disorder and administered milnacipran. Additionally, she started walking exercises with physical therapists. She was able to walk alone one year after her first medical examination. We provided multidisciplinary treatment for chronic pain in children, and she returned to social life without pain.
