Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are one of the most widely prescribed drugs all over the world. Several NSAIDs are being developed, however, it has been difficult to assess NSAIDs either objectively or relatively because pain is based on individual patient assessment. PainVision (PV) is a useful tool to measure the pain intensity using a painless electrical stimulation. In this study, 19 topical NSAIDs were assessed subjectively and relatively using visual analog scale (VAS) and PV, respectively. These scores after NSAIDs challenge were obtained from 33 healthy volunteers with informed consent. It was significant correlation between PD and VAS (r=0.681: p<0.01). We found that the analgesic effect of Mikametan, Teikoku and Yutoku were stronger than Inteban, significantly. Our data help revealed PV could be a useful tool for pain assessment. Our data helps pharmacists selecting NSAIDs drugs from generic name prescription.
