Abstract
In a patient treated with calcium antagonists for severe variant angina paralytic ileus developed immediately. In order to suppress abdominal pain and distention which tended to induce angina attacks, the patient received continuous epidural block of the thorax with 0.8% lidocaine. Colonic motility and abdominal pain as well as angina attacks were markedly improved.
