Abstract

A method of analysis of both continuous and discontinuous chip formations by using the extended Hencky's equations for variable flow stress and the principle of visioplasticity is proposed in a concrete form.
An example of digital computer program for calculating strain increments, direction of slip line and magnitude of maximum shear strain increment from observed displacement of the engraved grid lines on work-piece is proposed.
Experimental set-up and techniques for the proposed method are described.
