Abstract
Takao Wakabayashi: Discussions on the Compressibility of Powder Masses. The, formulas (Bal'shin's, Kawakita's, Athy's and Terzaghi's) determined by the experiments for the relation between pressure and volume of powder mass are represented by the same notation and are compared to each other.
Terzaghi's and Balshin's seem to correspond to the mass of ductile particles, and Kawakita's and Athy's correspond to that of rigid particles. Terzaghi's includes Balshin's as a special case. The pressing curve of Kawakita's deviates somewhat from that of Athy's, especially for high pressure.
Two formulas (Tanimoto's and the author's) obtained theoretically are compared with the above montioned experimental formulas. Tanimoto's is based on a mechanical model and corresponds to Kawakita's, while the author's is based on the Mohr diagram and corresponds to Terzaghi's.
