Abstract
Titanium-molybdenum alloy has the high corrosion resistance in non-oxidizing acid solutions. However, this alloy is not commercialized by the ordinary melting methods, because of the segregation and the difficulty in working.
In order to improve these points, a powder metallurgical method on titanium-molybdenum alloys was studied.
The results obtained were as follows;
1) The uniform β-Ti-Mo solid solution was obatined by the powder metallurgical method.
2) The Ti-30Mo sintered compacts have the markedly high corrosion resistance on non-oxidizing acid solutions (HCl, H2SO4).
3) The mechanical properties of sintered compacts obtained in this experiment were not yet satisfied.
4) The Ti-Mo compacts made of sodium reduced titanium powders were found to have better mechanical properties than these made of other titanium powders.
